Christie’s and OpenSea together for an on-chain NFT auction
Christie’s is getting closer and closer to the Crypto world. In fact, the news of the collaboration with the OpenSea marketplace, in view of its first on-chain auction of NFT to be held on the site of the well-known platform, is recent.
As reported in the auction house’s Tweet, the event is scheduled to open between December 1 and 3, with the actual public opening for bidding from December 4 to 7.
The Christie’s x OpenSea NFT auction is curated by Noah Davis – Christie’s specialist and head of digital – nft now and curator Ronnie Pirovino, and features collectibles and new artworks from the likes of Alpha Centauri Kid, Andre Oshea, Baeige, Blake Kathryn, DotPigeon, FriendsWithYou, FVCKRENDER, Krista Kim, Mad Dog Jones, Tom Sachs and WhIsBe.
Some of the works up for auction will also be exhibited at Art Basel Miami.
“My hope is that this is the beginning of a new era for NFT sales at Christie’s, where this amazing technology can be used to its full potential and help bring even the most traditional contemporary art collectors into Web 3,” said Noah Davis.
Alexander Bercow, Head of Art Partnerships at OpenSea, added: “Christie’s is a world-renowned art and luxury company that has shaped this industry for centuries. The opportunity to bring their legacy and curatorial expertise to OpenSea’s platform was obviously extremely exciting for us. We are thrilled to share these highly coveted and inspiring works of art and collectibles with enthusiasts around the world.“
