Adidas and Fewocious together again for a new Phygital drop

Adidas and Fewocious together again for a new Phygital drop

The fruitful collaboration between the crypto artist and the well-known brand is renewed, this time with an entirely Phygital outcome

Fewocious is now a well-known name in the digital and crypto art world, having already collaborated with traditional art world auction houses such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Its style can be defined as a “playful pop” that marries perfectly with the German giant’s desire to revisit its most iconic products, such as sneakers, in what was defined by the brand as a “harmonious collision of perspectives “.

In fact, Fewocious has created a new series of physical sneakers called Adidas Originals Campus 00’s, redeemable only and exclusively through an NFT.

    How the drop works

To win these sneakers, users will have to mint the Trefoil Flower Mint Pass NFT on OpenSea starting next June 22nd, with a total edition of 4,500 NFTs. The drop will also have 3 phases, the first 2 of presale will be reserved for holders of Alts Decos and Soles NFT, also from Adidas, at a discounted price of 0.2 ETH; the third phase and the public sale will instead have a price of 0.25 ETH.

Holders of the Trefoil Flower Mint will then be able, starting from August, to redeem the physical product by burning their NFT.

Adidas therefore continues to strengthen its position in the WEB3 world, through the combination of physical and digital, after collaborating, among others, with the well-known Bored Ape for the “Into the Metaverse” collection: here too the holders were able to redeem of exclusive physical products, for a result of over 150 million dollars.

At Art Basel Refik Anadol brings a work on climate change

At Art Basel Refik Anadol brings a work on climate change

It’s called Glacier Dreams, and will be projected on the facade of Theater Basel until June 18th.

An AI-generated work showing glaciers disappearing all over the world: this is the latest creation by Turkish digital artist Refik Anadol, whose research consists in transforming data obtained by algorithms into abstract and dreamlike environments. “The idea is to draw attention to glaciers, which are a phenomenon as inspiring as they are fragile,” says Anadol.

The installation had already been presented at Art Dubai and at the i Light Singapore festival; while the next part should be shown at the Serpentine in London later this year (November-February 2024).

“The London exhibition will be the conclusion, showing the behind-the-scenes process and datasets used [to create the work]; several glaciers will wind their way through the show, from Patagonia to Greenland. [Serpentine art director] Hans Ulrich Obrist helped us perfect the work.”

The artist has used algorithms to simulate the melting of glaciers, processing more than 100 million images from various archives, combining them with some images he took in Iceland, Greenland and Antarctica. “It took 4 years of research to create this work; we have worked with institutions such as the Icelandic Space Agency,” he says.

Not only a visual work but also a sensorial one, in fact, Anadol states that “We have used an artificial intelligence model and have created a stimulating olfactory formula, which evokes the scent of fresh water after the melting of a glacier”.

Furthermore, Glacier Dreams will be a real scientific tool that can be used by researchers.

Glacier Dreams was commissioned by Swiss private bank Julius Baer as part of its arts, science and technology initiative, Next.

Marjan Moghaddam wins the first edition of the ABS NFT Art Prize

Marjan Moghaddam wins the first edition of the ABS NFT Art Prize

Geneva, June 7th, 2023 – The winner of the world’s first NFT Art Prize has just been announced during the Non Fungible Conference. Marjan Moghaddam is among 10 other finalists with art pieces ranging from different NFT art movements, including Generative Art, AI, Photography, and Glitch Art.

Combining its involvement in the crypto space with its long-term patronage of the arts, Arab Bank Switzerland announced the launch of the world’s first NFT Art Prize last year to emphasize the link between art and technology by supporting artists who, in their own way, revolutionise the world of art. The call for application for this first edition incorporating the theme “Orient meets Occident” proved to be a success with over 140 applications since its opening in January 2023.

This first edition’s jury includes experts in the digital art world: Inna Modja, Co-founder of Code Green, and UN Ambassador (UNCCD), John Karp, President of the Non Fungible Conference, Nicolas Gonet, Board Member of Gonet & Cie and Arab Bank Switzerland, Benoit Couty, Founder of MoCA, Valeria Lavizzari, Executive Director at Arab Bank Switzerland, and Rani Jabban, Managing Director of Arab Bank Switzerland.

Following several deliberations, the NFT Art Prize jury shortlisted the following 10 international artists and their artworks which will all be exhibited at the Non Fungible Conference on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th June:

    1. Fiona Aboud, and her piece “Generations”, a portrait  superposing pictures of her Lebanese Great-Great-Grandmother, who emigrated to Brazil around 1889 and her today in NYC, a combination of past generations – their joys, hardships, quirks, and passions.
    2. Giulio Aprin, and his photograph “Sands of Time”, a lesson on how any person faced with the vastness and greatness of mother nature can resize themselves and their priorities, rediscovering a new reality.
    3. Abdoulaye Barry, and his piece “Arabesque”, based on the French word that describes an ornamental design of intertwined flowing lines, originally found on ancient Islamic structures. The artwork conveys this singularity by portraying an ancient Islamic art method using the modern 3D tools.
    4. Louis-Paul Caron, and his piece “Orient Express”, a futuristic animated artwork in which the journey seems infinite. The destination is surely inaccessible, perhaps non-existent, and the promise of a life-saving technology also seems to have flown away, questioning the future of our virtual worlds.
    5. Code22, and their piece “intro to a not-so-binary world”, a geometric abstraction in which intricate patterns of isosceles triangles and, later, alternating colors are calculated to shift under our eyes, to produce movement, metamorphosis and fluidity in the form of hypnotic mashrabiyas.
    6. Frederik De Wilde, and his project “CryptoSpirits_Data Weaving_#1”,  a visual aesthetic inspired by Islamic geometric patterns found in oriental carpets, and also depicted in Renaissance paintings, and western glitch aesthetics and color field art. His work is at the intersection of contemporary technology, ancient animism and the impact of climate change.
    7. Bard Ionson, and his AI artwork “Future Is Where East & West Touch”, a new world where ancient cities and landscapes are fused together. Through technology the East and West cooperate and collaborate with each other in a decentralized way.
    8. Rizacan Kumas, and his portrait “Breeze”, a work depicting how a simple breeze can have an effect on our lives, and even though we smile, we continue to collide with what the years have brought us.
    9. Marjan Moghaddam, and her piece “Glitching Intaleqi”, an animated painting exploring the digital aspects of the ideals of Intaleqi or Arabic for freeing oneself, as an experience, feeling and state of being.
    10. Popeye Pazuru, and his collage “East Wind, West Wind” the tribute to Pearl Buck and her discovery of cultures is also an interactive piece that uses code to create movement on the clock’s display of time.

Inna Modja, International Artist, Co-founder of Code Green, and UN Ambassador (UNCCD), as well as President of the Jury, commented: “I’m proud to have been part of the first NFT Art Prize of its kind! This award represents an important advancement in the digital art space, confirming the ever growing interest of major institutions”.

Rani Jabban, Managing Director of Arab Bank Switzerland, added: “Congratulations to Marjan! Her piece “Glitching Intaleqi” embodies our theme for this Prize, at the crossroad of Orient and Occident, tradition and modernity. The use of contemporary digital aesthetics combined with traditional Middle-Eastern patterns transforms the piece into an experience, and into a feeling of freedom”.

In addition to the 15,000 CHF prize, and being included in Arab Bank Switzerland’s NFT Art Collection, the winner will be offered significant networking and visibility opportunities at special events around the world, starting with a dedicated exhibition in Lisbon during the Non Fungible Conference.

Over the Lines: Andrea Crespi Solo Show in Mantua

Over the Lines: Andrea Crespi Solo Show in Mantua

Mantua (Italy) – Galleria Zanini Arte is pleased to present “Over The Lines”, Andrea Crespi solo show, opening on May 20th at 6 pm CET in the presence of the artist Andrea Crespi, the curator Sandie Zanini, and Andrea Concas, Editor of The NFT Magazine.

On the occasion of the exhibition, the first NFT artist’s book “Andrea Crespi – CryptoArt Monograph”, published by The NFT Magazine, will be presented as an absolute preview.

“Magritte” by Andrea Crespi, courtesy of Zanini Arte

    THE EXHIBITION  “OVER THE LINES”

In Crespi’s art, infinite lines chase each other without ever coming together, touching and moving away as in a sensual dance, which sinuously and mockingly plays with the viewer, through optical illusion. The aesthetic of the work attracts the eye and at the same time destabilizes it, leaving the viewer with the doubt of having really understood its entire essence.

“Over the Lines” is an invitation to go beyond the first destabilizing optical effect. It encourages the public to pay attention, the only way to merge into the image and feel it. A reflection and a reminder of a contemporary gaze now extremely hasty.

The title of the exhibition represents an unconventional philosophy of life for Andrea Crespi: pushing the boundaries, discovering new fields through artistic innovation and focusing on uncomfortable themes.

For the artist, the experimentation is a way to get to know each other better and through the understanding of the self, to shake the artistic force it contains, giving vent to one’s creativity. A process of liberation.

    ANDREA CRESPI – CRYPTOART MONOGRAPH

During the opening of the exhibition “Over The Lines” the publication “Andrea Crespi – CryptoArt Monograph”, the first NFT artist’s book published by The NFT Magazine, and curated by Sandie Zanini will be presented.

Andrea Crespi has interpreted the concept of an artist’s book by intervening with one of his works unpublished not only on the cover of the monograph, but in all its pages. Through a grid of lines – a primordial gesture of artistic creation – it traces the path to the discovery of his art in the world of NFTs to reveal the one who lies beneath those living lines: Mona Lisa, THE timeless icon.

But this edition of CryptoArt Monograph takes on a new value: it becomes for the first time a phygital artist’s book, by its nature born as NFT also finds space in reality with the physical printed publication.

The NFT Magazine has thus once again changed the rules of Publishing and Web3.

Together with the artist Andrea Crespi and the curator Sandie Zanini, Andrea Concas, editor of  The NFT Magazine, will take part in the event.

Seletti x Absolut Vodka. The new collectible NFT project

Seletti x Absolut Vodka. The new collectible NFT project

Seletti x Absolut Vodka. From the encounter between the visionary design brand and the iconic vodka brand, Born To Mix3D NFT Collection was born, the first exclusive NFT collection, the result of a unique collaboration in history.

Absolut Vodka, the leading brand of premium vodka, which has always stood out for its strong link with art by inviting the most famous artists from all over the world to reinterpret its iconic bottle, joins Seletti, an Italian figurative design company, to give life to the Seletti x Absolut Born To Mix3D NFT Collection.

The two brands, which share an experimental attitude and openness to the most contemporary contaminations, land together in the ** world of web 3.0 to create an unprecedented collection of Absolut NFTs by Seletti **, a drop of ** 2500 digital works unique** for Absolut lovers, design enthusiasts and NFT collectors.

Absolut Vodka once again confirms its pioneering ability to expand its horizons and welcome the most current and avant-garde creative forms by overcoming the new frontiers between real and digital, finding in Seletti, famous for the chameleon-like gift of knowing how to transform works of art in everyday objects, the perfect partner.

From today it is possible to access the Website 3.0 dedicated to the Seletti x Absolut Born to Mix3D project where you can find a preview of the partnership. Starting from April 3, it will then be possible to purchase the Seletti x Absolut NFTs, which – in this first phase – will all have the same mysterious appearance. From April 17, however, each NFT will transform, finally showing the uniqueness of its design. From this date, by accessing their digital wallet on the site, each Seletti x Absolut NFT Owner will discover the identity of their NFT. The collection is in fact made up of four different rarities, one of which is extremely limited. Furthermore, again from 17 April, the exclusive limited edition design object signed by Seletti x Absolut associated with each NFT will also be unveiled. The design item can then be requested from 15 May directly on the site.

In continuity with the success achieved in 2021 through the campaign on Twitch “We can’t wait to get back together #IRL”, Absolut returns to involve and engage its tech savy community with innovative projects aimed at connecting, once again, real and digital.

In fact, the Seletti x Absolut Born To Mix3D project aims to convey the values of the Absolut universe that want to create a more inclusive world, where people and ideas can mix in an authentic and fun way in real life as well as in virtual life. Precisely for this purpose, Absolut chooses Web 3.0, the decentralized and equal place par excellence, to welcome the new Born To Mix3D project.

With this project, the brand adds a further element to the Born To Mix campaign, aimed at creating a set of interconnections between ideas, people and heterogeneous cocktails, extending it together with Seletti to the digital universe and transforming it into Born To Mix3D, to give life to an even more diverse and united world.

The NFT Magazine presents the new monograph on the Crypto Art of Ellen Sheidlin

The NFT Magazine presents the new monograph on the Crypto Art of Ellen Sheidlin

Ellen Sheidlin is the new protagonist of the monograph of The NFT Magazine, which launches the book curated by Alfredo Cramerotti and Auronda Scalera.

The NFT Magazine continues to tell the great Crypto Artists and after Angie Taylor, Joshua Davis, Andrea Crespi, the #04 CryptoArt Monograph is all dedicated to Ellen Sheidlin.

    THE NEW CRYPTOART MONOGRAPH

She has more than 4.5 million Instagram followers, and his work has been exhibited in major cities such as Tokyo, Florence, London, Paris and New York.

We are talking about ELLEN SHEIDLIN, a young multimedia artist who is actively experimenting with NFT, to whom the is dedicated the #04 CryptoArt Monograph.

Her artworks are a visionary mix of realism, dreams and virtuality, which the artist calls survirtualism , for the first time thoroughly enclosed in a Phygital Book, carefully curated by Auronda Scalera & Alfredo Cramerotti.

This monograph at hand offers a unique perspective on the work of Ellen Sheidlin, showcasing a series of images that form a cohesive, animated artwork. Rather than presenting traditional, static artworks, the images in this book are frames taken from a larger, moving or animated piece.

This approach transforms the viewing experience, inviting the reader to immerse themselves in the artist’s creative process and journey.

The new CryptoArt Monograph together with the #05ISSUE2k23 of The NFT Magazine will be available with a double drop from 1 May 2023 at 8 PM CEST, both on the Nifty Gateway platform, which will last 5 DAYS for both the COVER DROP and the BookDrop NFT.

COLLECT THE THE ELLEN SHEIDLIN MONOGRAPH HERE: https://www.niftygateway.com/collections/05issue2k23-ellen-sheidlin

    WHO IS ELLEN SHEIDLIN

Ellen Sheidlin is a multimedia artist who creates digital photo and video images, works in the genres of sculpture and painting, and actively experiments with NFT technologies. For more than 10 years Ellen has used social networks as the main platform for her work, combining Internet aesthetics with images from personal mythology to create a personal author’s world.

Ellen herself describes the method she has developed as survirtualism – a mixture of the digital and the physical, the dreamlike and the real, the material and the intangible. The artist often uses her own image to create works, showing how versatile our personalities can be and how many different facets, sensations and worlds lie within each person.

THE UNPUBLISHED COVER FOR THE BOOK

Every Crypto Artist protagonist of CryptoArt Monograph creates an unpublished work that becomes an NFT cover between physical and digital.
The work presented by Ellen Sheidlin for her monograph is “ Whispers”, whose physical version was exhibited at the Tokyo Art Fair, supported by Art Basel.

The artist says about it: “In this intriguing artwork, a group of ears symbolizes the diverse range of voices that contribute to our inner dialogue.

The ears whisper different thoughts, voices, illusions, judgments and love, reminding us of the complexity of the human mind. The whispers, while distinct and disparate, merge into a single voice that is both a reflection of the artist and a representation of the viewer’s internal dialogue.

The message is clear: all rumors are true, all these rumors are part of us, and it is up to us to embrace them and turn them into art. The last word spoken by the many whispers is a resounding affirmation: you are the art, and your inner world is a masterpiece waiting to be created ”.

    DISCOVERING CRYPTOART MONOGRAPH

The time has come to tell the great Crypto Artists, their history, their artistic research, their digital works of art, and the platforms and metaverses in which they operate.

The CryptoArt series Monograph by The NFT Magazine was created in collaboration with the most important and visionary curators to tell and “timestamp” of the evolution of Crypto Art today.

After the great international success of the book “CRYPTO ART – Begins ” born on the idea and project of The NFT Magazine, published by Rizzoli, the international magazine continues the research and curatorship work on the world of Crypto Art, still to be discovered.

Thanks to CryptoArt Monograph , The NFT Magazine reveals every month the great protagonists of the digital art scene in the WEB3.

Each artist creates an unpublished NFT associated with their monograph to read and collect, with the possibility of redeeming a limited edition physical book to overcome the boundaries of Web3 Publishing arriving at the collectors’ home as well as in the metaverse.

Each NFT features a unique smart contract for the Crypto Artist, Curators and Publishers to build the story and foundation of Crypto Art.

The Art Market 2023. The new art market report from Art Basel and UBS

The Art Market 2023. The new art market report from Art Basel and UBS

Like every year, The Art Market 2023 arrives relentlessly, a report on the art market commissioned by Art Basel and UBS to the expert Clare McAndrew

The report, a true beacon for understanding the trend of the art market, presents some interesting data and analyses, starting from an improvement in trade and market volumes on a global level.

In fact, despite China’s zero covid policy, global artwork sales increased by 3% year-on-year to $67.8 billion, taking the market higher than before -pandemic in 2019.

Clare McAndrew is author of the UBS:Art Basel Art Market Report Courtesy of Art Basel:UBS

After a strong recovery in sales of 31% in 2021 from a pandemic low a year earlier, results were more mixed in 2022, with variations in performance by sector, region and price segments led to lower growth.

Transaction volume fell sharply during the pandemic in 2020 but recovered in 2021, with the number of sales increasing 19% to 37.3 million. In 2022, these increased only marginally (1%) to 37.8 million, due to more sales by retailers.

The United States maintained its leading position for global sales, which increased by 2% year-over-year to 45%.

The UK returned to second place with 18% of sales and China ‘s share decreased by 3% to 17%, returning to third position.

At European level, France maintained its position as the fourth largest art market in the world with a stable share of 7%.

    ART ONLINE SALES

The two-year period 2020-2022 was marked by a strong increase – in terms of presence and investments – in the online sector by auction houses, art galleries and large marketplaces.

Despite this, as a result of the post-pandemic recovery, online sales fell to $11 billion, a 17% drop from the 2021 peak of $13.3 billion, but still 85% higher than in 2019.

Online sales accounted for 16% of the total value of art market turnover in 2022, down from a 25% peak in 2020 and 4% lower than the global retail e-commerce share (20%) in 2022.

CRYPTO ART AND NFT COLLECTIBLE SALES

Also for this edition of the Art Market Report, Clare McAndrew takes into consideration the sales of Crypto Art and NFT collectibles. The report notes that after reaching a late 2021 peak of nearly $2.9 billion, sales of art-related NFTs on platforms outside the mainstream market have dipped to just under $1.5 billion, a down 49% year over year. Despite the significant drop in value, sales were still over 70 times those of 2020 (at just over $20 million). The decline in value was more pronounced for art-related NFTs than other segments, accounting for just 8% of the value of NFT sales on the Ethereum Blockchain Network in 2022 (versus 67% for collectible NFTs).q

THE MARKET FOR DIGITAL ART, FILM AND VIDEO ART IS INCREASING

While traditional mediums such as painting, sculpture and works on paper still dominate trade globally and account for 82% of trade in 2022, there is room for more as well.

In fact, the sale of Digital Art, Film and Video Art rose from just 1% in 2021 to 5% in 2022. It should be noted that most of these sales (4%) were of digital art and almost all (99%) were sales associated with NFTs.

A PHYGITAL FUTURE: BETWEEN ART FAIRS AND E-COMMERCE

In 2020, the fate of art fairs seemed sealed, between closures and the transition to online, with a consequent improvement in access to e-commerce.

In 2022, on the other hand, there was a turnaround: in fact, despite the costs to be incurred by galleries to participate in trade fair events in every part of the globe, they have chosen not to give up the presence of their own stand.

Sales at art fairs increased significantly in 2022, as dealers exhibited on average at the same number of fairs as in 2019. Sales thus increased from 27% of total sales in 2021 to 35% in 2022, but are remained significantly below pre -pandemic levels in 2019 (42%).

Focusing on art e-commerce, after a rapid escalation of growth in 2020 to 39% of dealer sales, the share of online sales dropped to 22% in 2021 and again to 16% in 2022.

    GENDER EQUALITY: THE UNKNOWN ONE

Although formally we continue to profess the achievement of gender equality, the data speak for themselves and tell another picture.

The market presence of female artists remains consistently lower than their male counterparts. Price parity has also been slow to evolve. According to the report, the share of female artists represented by galleries was 39%, up from 37% in 2021. In the primary market alone, progress appears to have stalled over the past two years, with the share of female artists now at 42%. %, marginally down from the 44% achieved in 2019.

New Collaboration between Gucci and BAYC

New Collaboration between Gucci and BAYC

The Gucci fashion house scores another coup for its presence in Web3, closing a collaboration agreement with the NFT Collectible Bored Ape Yacht Club

There is no question that Bored Ape Yacht Club has the most dominant market share in all of the NFT space.

With this certainty, BAYC is thus able to collaborate with some of the biggest brands in the world.

According to a Yuga Labs spokesperson via Decrypt, the collaboration with Gucci is a “multi-year partnership designed to extend the engagement between their respective communities, by exploring the intersection between fashion and entertainment in the metaverse

Previously, Gucci and BAYC had found themselves collaborating together, but occasionally and without any real official communication.

Today, however, everything changes: in fact, the initiative is entirely focused on the Bored Ape Metaverse accessible to all NFT Holders.

But what are the real benefits for the BAYC Community that arise from the collaboration?

Currently, little is known about the upcoming partnership between Gucci and BAYC. What we do know is that the collaboration will span multiple years and involves the creation of a series of wearable Collectible NFTs in the Metaverse by Holders and those who are part of the greater BAYC ecosystem.

According to Gucci’s statement in a Business of Fashion report, the partnership will serve to bring together the Gucci and Yuga communities by “exploring the intersection of fashion and entertainment in the Metaverse.”

    LINK TO REPORT: https://www.businessoffashion.com/articles/technology/gucci-teams-up-with-company-behind-bored-ape-yacht-club/

“We are thrilled to unveil this multifaceted partnership with Yuga Labs, the creative leader and pioneer of Web3,” said one of Yuga Labs founders Triefus in a statement to Business of Fashion. “This will give us an active role in the ongoing narrative of Otherside and 10KTF, which plays out in multiple guises.”

We look forward to further developments…
