    How to prepare for a virtual exhibition

    How to prepare for a virtual exhibition

    Participating in a virtual exhibition is an opportunity to exhibit and sell your works online. Find out how an artist must prepare to participate in a Virtual Exhibition.

    Today more than ever in the world of art, digital technologies are essential to keep the dialogue with the public alive.

    Thanks to special digital platforms it is possible to implement new forms of enhancement and art fruition, such as Virtual Exhibitions accessible whenever and wherever you want via smartphone, tablet and computer.

    In the last year, therefore, more and more artists have been involved in Digital Exhibitions through invitations from galleries and institutions or by participating in prizes and digital art competitions.

    How does an artist prepare to participate in a Virtual Exhibition?

    The first thing an artist must do to participate in a Virtual Exhibition is a checklist of their works and all information, media and documents concerning them.

    Why is a checklist of your works necessary?

    To participate in virtual exhibitions, together with the Portfolio, very high definition images and all the information describing the work on display are usually required, in addition to sales details.

    HD images are necessary to allow the user an optimal use of the works of art, even in the smallest details.

    Information on the work is required both to certify the origin and authenticity of the work and to create explanatory panels that guide the visitor through the rooms and between the works, offering extra content such as in-depth texts, videos and interviews.

    During a Virtual Exhibition, especially on the occasion of fairs, awards and online tours of galleries, artists can go beyond the simple exhibition and be able to sell their works, coming into direct contact with collectors.

    For this reason it is essential to also have all the documents and information relating to prices and conditions of sale updated and immediately available.

    In this sense, it is a good idea for an artist to have a complete and updated Archive that contains in a single digital and secure space all the information, documents and media concerning their artistic production.

    Art Rights is the first platform for the management and certification of works of art which, through a management system, the Art Manager, allows you to manage your works in complete privacy, creating a personal digital archive and certificates of authenticity. Rights

    And you, are you ready to participate in a virtual exhibition?

    The success of online auctions

    The success of online auctions

    What are the factors that have determined the success of online sales? Let’s find it out together

    The auctions in presence are currently not happening anymore, but the demand for works of art by collectors does not stop even during a global pandemic.

    To adapt to the lack of “physical” events, auction houses have consolidated their digital presence thanks to the use of various tools such as live streaming, newsletters, storytelling through social media combined with a gradual increase in the estimates of sales lots.

    In fact, the Hiscox 2020 Report shows us how, in this complex scenario, auction houses have managed to develop winning sales strategies that have kept the interest of the most passionate collectors alive.

    In detail, in the period between March and September 2020, there was a significant increase not only in users / collectors active online and on websites, but also in the number of auction sales and prices of lots.

    The lockdown did not therefore stop the exchanges which, as regards the online auctions of the greats such as Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips, proved to be far higher than the numbers achieved in the same period of the previous year.

    NEW PROJECTS, NEW AUCTIONS

    During the period of the pandemic, Loïc Gouzer, former co-chairman of Christie’s, designed the Fair Warning app, reserved for a small selection of collectors and gallery owners.

    The guests had the opportunity to win only one work of art per week among the works personally selected by Gouzer himself, such as the large drawing “Untitled (1982)” by Jean-Michel Basquiat, auctioned on 30 July 2020 and which reached $ 10.8 million, a record amount for an app purchase.

    THE SUCCESS FACTORS OF ONLINE AUCTIONS

    Despite the complex period, thanks to some important factors taken into consideration by the most attentive collectors, auction houses still hold the record for reliability on the market.

    Here are the five factors that determine online auction sales success:

    1. Quality of the works of art offered

    Collectors need to dream, especially in an uncertain period. It is no coincidence that Tyrannosaurus Rex South Dakota was sold at the beginning of October 2020, auctioned by Christie’s contemporary art auction for 31.9 million dollars.

    Each department of an auction house, when selecting the works that will be put up for sale, takes into consideration fundamental elements in order to offer the best to its collectors. The analysis of the current market to determine the trends of the moment, together with the verification of the results of the previous auctions, prove to be necessary steps to establish preferences and select the best lots.

    1. Ease of navigation on the site

    The auction houses have visibly strengthened their digital presence, to allow collectors to enjoy a simplified digital experience.

    There is no standard format when it comes to websites, but today auction house websites are increasingly easily accessible, navigable and accessible from any device. In addition, in the last year there has been great attention and commitment to the environment, with a significant reduction in the production of paper catalogs and implementation of digital contents.

    Christie’s records 12 million unique visitors on its site, while it has implemented a digital form to send the request for an estimate for an object or a work of art, simplified in graphics and improved in usability, which was worth more than 35 millions of euros in lot transfers.

    1. Regulation

    On the auction house websites there is always a section dedicated to the regulation of the dynamics of sale and acquisition of a lot, together with the glossary used to provide information even to novice collectors.

    A plus of recent times is represented by real guides for the purchase or sale of works that auction houses offer on their sites. In this way, interested collectors are able to easily find all the information relating to the registration to be made to participate in a virtual auction, on the conduct and conditions of sale.

    1. Transparency on the price

    The lack of physicality and the impossibility of organizing live meetings to view the works or to participate in art fairs has strengthened the success of the auction houses, where transparency on the estimates and on the hammer price has proved to be the trump card for many collectors, in particular for young Millennial Collectors, who are increasingly attentive to the manipulation and transparency of prices.

    Extensive use is therefore being made of online auctions over time, with the possibility of monitoring the trend of increases for each collector simply from their smartphone or PC.

    The thrill of the auction was certainly lacking, but the prices reached nevertheless gave strong emotions, such as the one for the sale for 84.6 million dollars of the “Triptych” (1981) by Francis Bacon at Sotheby’s and broadcast in live streaming. from Hong Kong, London and New York.

    1. Documentation

    Despite the difficulties of the pandemic, auction house experts followed the collectors remotely, providing by phone or email all the useful information relating to auctions and documentation of the works.

    However, the “simplified” digital exchange of the documentary kit of a work of art has revealed the need to adopt innovative solutions for the privacy and security of documents, including Certificates of Authenticity, Archival Authentication, Condition Report , to be checked carefully and requested well before purchase by the collector.

    Hence, for 2021, auction houses and other operators in the sector together with market players must be able to introduce the use of innovative professional tools such as Art Rights, a platform for management and certification, into their daily work procedures. of information on works of art with Blockchain technology and Artificial Intelligence.

    Creating the Digital Strategy for Museums

    La Digital Strategy per i Musei Art Rights Magazine

    Creating the Digital Strategy for Museums

    For a museum, having a digital strategy is key to communicating on the web effectively, and combining the physical with the online

    During the long period of closure and still today, Museums have understood that implementing a specific digital strategy, supported by professionals, can become decisive in overcoming this difficult phase of dialogue with their public of visitors.

    Digital Strategy means the strategic design of a plan with which we define, in every detail, our presence in the digital world, following a set of guidelines and actions that can be defined according to the objectives and the context in which we will operate.

    In the world of art, there are and intervene unique peculiarities of the sector, which must be compulsorily taken into account when planning, creative elaboration, text writing, positioning, storytelling and digital communication.

    When a museum decides to operate online, after having identified targets and objectives, it must necessarily design an effective strategy to communicate on the web and achieve its goals online.

    The general objective of an art museum is to valorize the permanent collection, to promote exhibition programming or projects that attract the attention of the museum’s visiting public. Enhancing means making art usable and accessible to a more or less vast and heterogeneous public, with a careful path, both visual and descriptive, cultural and social, to highlight the qualities of art, allowing the user to expand his knowledge.

    Having a digital strategy does not only mean having social profiles and a website, but it becomes important to learn how to manage them in the best possible way, selecting the right channels to reach visitors and art lovers.

    To be able to do this, we need to start from a fixed point: the quality of content, consistency, analysis and continuous corrective and improvement actions are the key to success in digital, even for the world of art museums.

    Among the channels available to museums to be able to communicate on the web are:

    • Direct: to create interactions with your audience through interviews or events;
    • Webinars: to create in-depth insights and art lessons through e-learning platforms;
    • Podcasts: to tell the story of the collection in a smarter way;
    • Video: as social content or to promote your institution;
    • Newsletter: to keep your audience updated with the latest news.
    • Blog/news: with focus on specific topics, news and events;
    • Virtual tour: to make the collection accessible online and at a distance;
    • E-commerce: to purchase tickets or bookshop items directly from the website;
    • Website: structured specifically for the art world and constantly updated.
    • Social Network: among the most used there are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and last but not least TikTok, for each of them the strategy of use differs depending on the objectives

    Today is the right and no longer postponable moment for museums to structure themselves with a greater digital presence and offer for the fruition, valorization and management of cultural heritage

    In order to combine digital and physical and improve the quality of online content, it will be essential to employ qualified personnel who can guarantee digital projects and strategies.

    The Art Rights Art Concierge offers a great opportunity to get in touch with the largest Community of Art Professionals, able to offer services and advice to structure the digital strategy of a museum to value its permanent art collection.

    How about you, are you ready to create a digital strategy for a museum?

    The Agencies for Artists

    The Agencies for Artists

    Let’s find out what Artist Agencies are and how they work.

    In the world of art, there are professionals who are able to accompany the growth of an artist from the beginning to career success: among these the Artist’s Managers.

    In Italy these are still not very widespread realities, but abroad the most influential Artist Managers have created real Representation Agencies that invest in the Artist and support his growth path.

    HOW DOES AN AGENCY FOR ARTISTS WORK?

    • Offers advice to strategically develop an artist’s career;
    • It supports the costs of their study and artistic path;
    • It takes care of the administrative, commercial and bureaucratic aspects in collaboration with other professionals;
    • Create partnerships by bringing together Artists and Brands, Public and Private Bodies, Galleries and Institutions to carry out cultural projects;
    • They offer collectors investment opportunities by purchasing the works of the artists represented;
    • Supports the artist in sales negotiations;
    • It promotes the image and activity of an artist internationally, offering media visibility.

    HOW ARE THE ARTISTS CHOSEN?

    Each month, the Agencies select a large number of Portfolio received by the artists, which will be read and viewed by a Selection Committee and which will choose the artists who present a unique artistic research, the use of the most innovative techniques, stimulating contents and strong messages.

    Being represented by an Agency for Artists is a great opportunity, which allows you to increase your artistic reputation, gain greater visibility and transform a passion into a real profession.

    Among the agencies for artists currently operating we find MTArt Agency, founded in 2015 by Marine Tanguy.

    MTArt Agency is an award-winning agency that promotes the most innovative emerging artists on the international art scene. It currently has four offices in London, Paris, Madrid and Munich.

    In addition to having a Portfolio made to perfection, before presenting to an Agency for Artists it is necessary to have order among your works, which means having a complete and updated Works Archive available, containing the documentation for sale such as the Certificato di Autenticità or even the contracts.

    With Art Rights, the first professional platform for the management and certification of works of art with Blockchain technology, you can build your own Digital Archive in total privacy and with maximum security: in fact, all information relating to the works will be accessible only to you. and to the user inside or outside the platform with whom you decide to share them.

    In addition, through the Art Concierge of Art Rights you can find the best professionals to request specific advice and services dedicated to the career of an artist

    Clubhouse the social network that speaks of art

    CLUBHOUSE THE SOCIAL NETWORK THAT SPEAKS OF ART

    by Andrea Concas

    It is undoubtedly the place to be of the moment, the coolest social that is involving, overwhelming and above all making the art world talk.

    If Instagram feared TikTok’s videos, it must now also look out – or rather open its ears – to the disruptive audio conversations of Clubhouse the brand new social network based entirely on users’ voices and voice messages.

    For a long time, on messaging systems such as Whatsapp, Telegram, Facebook Messenger or in Instagram DMs, a voice message is preferred, whether short or long, to a text message, a choice related mainly to reasons of convenience, speed, laziness or context.

    This phenomenon has certainly not escaped two visionary American entrepreneurs, obviously from Silicon Valley Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, respectively former Pinterest and Google – who, after raising more than 100 million dollars from the venture capital firm Andressen Horowitz and already investors in Facebook, Twitter and Airbnb, have launched in April 2020 in full pandemic, the social network Clubhouse, where you can only send audio messages, and that today counts the first 2 million users with a valuation that exceeds 1 billion dollars!

    Like an unusual walkie talkie for the most romantic or even a radio or an interactive podcast 4.0, where communication is bidirectional, Clubhouse is more similar to platforms for calls such as Zoom, Meet or similar for the most technological, where you can manage a “stage”, a stage with Moderator and Speaker along with an audience of listeners who gather in Rooms or Channels more and more thematic.

    Exploded in the U.S. in recent months, in January 2021 arrived in Italy with great enthusiasm, but above all exclusivity.

    To date, in fact, it is possible to access only by invitation, and this pleases the Community of Clubhouse that grows by a maximum of 4 people at a time, as many as the number of invitations available for each user.

    A chain that creates dependence because, legend has it, that for each user who invites another, the first is responsible, a guarantor of the actions: the ban that could hit the invited then, would also hit the guarantor.

    If on the one hand exclusivity has become a disruptive marketing lever, on the other hand it has guaranteed a great leveling of interests, status and peculiarities of users, who invite each other to create value and, above all, vertical communities.

    The Rooms become thematic rooms, where to share more and more niche topics, where everyone can participate, albeit with the moderation of the organizers, but where the right to speak is for everyone and by a show of “hands”, with the aim of giving their contribution to the conversation.

    One’s voice on Clubhouse becomes a very powerful weapon that leaves room for imagination: it can love, involve, bore or annoy, but it certainly allows everyone to go beyond their limits, without having to stop in front of technological barriers, such as those of Twitch for cameras or Instagram where being perfect in photos and live broadcasts is everything.

    With Clubhouse all you need is an iPhone – for now the social network can only be downloaded on devices with iOS system, soon the Android version – and your voice: you can talk in any condition or moment of your day, in your pajamas, waiting for your turn at the post office or while cooking or doing sports, because you decide whether to listen or speak.

    But beware: Clubhouse has a very high rate of “time consuming” and is as addictive as ever!

    This is confirmed by the presence of big showbiz personalities such as Oprah Winfrey, Ashton Kutcher, Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Drake, journalists such as Taylor Lorenz of the New York Times, venture capitalists such as Ben Horowitz, influencers, entrepreneurs that you can find without too much effort between one room and another, where you can talk without filters, a unique opportunity to create a high-profile network.

    There is no shortage of big names in the art world either, with protagonists such as contemporary art agent Johann Konig, artist Rashid Johnson, VOLTA art fair director Kamiar Maleki, curator Hans Ulrich Obrist, or MTArt Agency founder Marine Tanguy.

    Italy arrives too, happy to have kicked off with the first rooms dedicated to Art in Italian, but every day more and more gatekeepers arrive, such as the Taurisano Collection, the artist-illustrator and former start of TikTok Federico Cecchin and also the collector Umberta Gnutti Beretta and the Contemporary & Street Art Contributor of Forbes Marco Rubino.

    Numerous thematic rooms dedicated to art, its promotion, innovation and Blockchain, the market where talks and interviews ignite comparisons and chats under the banner of art in an orderly and fruitful way.

    For example, renowned collector Stefan Simchowitz’s Simco’s Art Club, which aims to create a dialogue between artists, collectors, curators, gallery owners and art philanthropists.

    Although always by invitation, there is a large group of Italians that grows day by day welcomed by #ClubhouseItalia led by Marta Basso, multifaceted communicator and entrepreneur, and with whom every Tuesday at 9 am we lead together #LKDNFOCUS to take stock of the latest news, trends and current events, including innovation, culture and business and now also on Clubhouse.

    I fell in love with it, I’m always present on social under the tag @ArteConcas and as usual, every day, I talk (this time in the true sense of the word) about Art and Innovation.

    Fixed appointment from Monday to Friday at 2 pm you can find me with the Room “Art Lunch with ArteCONCAS”: 30 minutes to feed ourselves with Art talking about Innovation, great Artists, Museums, Professions, Market, System and answer to your questions!

     CATE BLANCHETT’S ART COLLECTION

    It is no secret, famous people such as actors, singers, sportspeople are great art lovers, including Hollywood star Cate Blanchett, who in addition to being an award-winning actress, is an art lover and collector.

    Cate Blanchett’s interest in art is not new. In fact in 2015 the actress starred in the film Manifesto, directed by the German artist Julian Rosefeldt, interpreting thirteen different characters who recite posters of artists of various movements, from the Suprematist Manifesto by Kazimir Malevich (1916) to the Manifesto Fluxus (1963) by Mierle Laderman Ukeles.

    In 2019 she then played Izabella Barta, a not too veiled version of Marina Abramovic, in an episode of Documentary Now! who parodied the artist’s performance “The Artist Is Present” (2012).

    Finally in 2020 Cate Blanchett appeared in a video installation on the theory of “personality types”, entitled The Four Temperaments, created by the Italian artist Marco Brambilla, exhibited at the Michael Fuchs Galerie in Berlin.

    Now the actress is creating an art gallery, designed by the Adam Richards Architects studio in London, capable of housing her huge collection of her art.

    The new complex will replace a shed and cottage owned by the actress and her husband Andrew Upton at Highwell House, the estate near the town of Crowborough in East Sussex in south-east England.

    According to some rumors Cate Blanchett is the owner of works by artists such as Guan Wei, Paula Rego, Howard Hodgkin, Rosalie Gascoigne, Bill Hammond, Bill Robinson, Polly Borland, Zhang Huan and Tim Maguire.

    Whether it is a small or large art collection, it is always essential for the good collector to be able to document the history of their works.

    To do this, it is important to compile an archive in which the documents and all information relating to the work are kept from the moment of its purchase until the moment it will be sold, bequeathed or donated to a third party.

    Today art collectors can manage their collection thanks not only to the support of a community of professionals, but also thanks to new technologies.

    Among the most efficient tools used for the creation of digital archives that are always ordered and updated is Art Rights, a platform that, through the use of Blockchain technology, allows you to manage and certify the works in art collections internationally.

    And you, are you ready to discover Cate Blanchett’s art collection?

    The Digital for Art

    Uses and opportunities of digital for art

    Art Rights Magazine in collaboration with ArtBackers.Agency dedicate the first column to Cultural Marketing, to the discovery of digital strategies for art professionals and its protagonists.

    The column to get a preview of the techniques, methodologies and secrets of communication: an access key to the world of Art 3.0

    Digital has made its disruptive entry into the world of art and it is good to start again from this, aware that it will be the undisputed protagonist of an immediate and global future.

    Due to the pandemic, we are experiencing a real “digital gold rush”, as declared by the art and innovation expert Andrea Concas, a new era for the world of art, now looking for tools and online opportunities to restart with their activities.

    If until a few years ago digital and online were not really taken into consideration for the use, promotion and sale of Art, in the past 2020 and even more today it has become more important than ever to activate new methods in close relationship with the physicality to be rediscovered.

    Digital will intervene on several fronts and in an art market with large numbers, just think of the volume of online sales recorded in the latest Art Market Report 2020 curated by Clare McAndrew for Art Basel and UBS, where the same figure is recorded to 5.9 billion dollars representing approximately 9% of the global market equal to 64.1 billion dollars.

    While, again in the same report, the art galleries contacted declared in the ranking of the great future challenges of the art market, that online sales are in fourth place of their priorities, decreeing the importance of a good digital presence to expand your own pool of collectors.

    It is important to underline that “Digital” does not only mean the use of sites and social networks, but a process to be configured in a broader Digital Strategy, which allows you to prepare the best strategy for your business model and prefigured objectives.

    The advantages of digitization for artists, art galleries, museums, artist archives, foundations or operators in the sector are many:

    • It allows to automate processes and procedures;
    • Optimize costs and timing;
    • Provides greater data security;
    • It guarantees traceability, but in total privacy and security;
    • Offers the storage of data and information;
    • Professional tools to support the cataloging of art collections such as the Art Rights platform, for the management and certification of works with Blockchain technology

    Still among the potential of digital is the use of online showcases, virtual tours, cloud services, eCommerce, statistics, customer management and profiling, billing and personal data, and many other solutions that are born every day and are used by millions of people and companies. in other sectors.

    Overcoming the distrust of digital and understanding how to make the most of it will be one of the great challenges for art and its protagonists.
