How to become a Crypto Artist and create your digital art career

New decentralized markets are ready to welcome young and established digital artists.

Beeple, Pak, Hackatao, these are just some of the names that are rewriting the history of art, selling their digital works for millions of dollars

But how do you become a digital artist? Here are some useful tips!

    1) Create your digital artwork

The first step to being a crypto artist is knowing how to create digital works of art, or works created with the use of computers and software, which can be reproduced on digital media. These can be GIFs, MP4 Videos or simple images, or motion graphics, 3D creations or even real and digitized works. Create your Portfolio that knows how to best tell your digital art.

    2) Certify your Art

Just as an original painting signed by Picasso must have its Certificate of Authenticity, crypto art can be verified because an NFT Non Fungible Tokens is coined. An NFT is a special token that represents a unique ID linked to a cryptographic artwork that cannot be replicated. The NTF is linked to Blockchain technology and is used to verify the ownership and origin of a work.

    3) Put it up for sale on an ad hoc platform

Once created and certified, the work is ready to be put on sale. In recent years, many platforms have emerged that allow you to show, sell and buy NFT works. Among the most famous we find OpenSea, but the most desired by artists are Nifty Gateway, SuperRare and Rarible. While some NFT platforms (like SuperRare and Nifty Gateway) currently only accept artists by invitation or application, others (like Rarible) allow any interested creator to start selling in their market.

    4) Become part of a Community

The phenomenon of Crypto Art is relatively recent and still little known to most. For this reason, one of the objectives of the NFT platforms is the creation of Communities that allow artists, collectors and professionals of the digital world to get in touch, discuss, train and update themselves on new technologies, trends and market developments. The key word of the community is “collaboration” and this spirit is supported by the exclusive concentration on art: artists often remain anonymous or use pseudonyms; gender, ethnicity, social status disappear.

Among the tools to support artists, including Crypto Artists, we find Art Rights, a platform for the management and certification of works of art through Blockchain technology. Among the services that the platform offers there is also the Art Concierge, the largest community of artists, collectors and professionals in the sector in support of art.

And you, are you ready to become a Crypto Artist?

Lucio Fontana: discovering the Archive and its Art Foundation

Discovering the Fontana Archive, one of the artists most loved by collectors…

The Lucio Fontana Foundation was created with the aim of ordering, preserving and promoting the great artistic heritage of the master of Italian conceptual art.

In 1982 his wife Teresita Rasini Fontana decided to entrust all the artistic heritage of over 600 works to the Foundation, of which she was president until her death in 1995, and started, together with a small group of friends, an archiving activity. careful and punctual of the art of Lucio Fontana, in order to protect the important work of her husband.

This commitment, which began in 1970, with the establishment of the Archive, has led over time to the recognition of a very large corpus of works, now collected in the various editions of the Catalogs Raisonné.

The first of these entitled Lucio Fontana. Catalog Raisonné des Peintures, sculptures et environnements spatiaux was published in 1974 by Enrico Crispolti. Subsequently, this first edition was enriched with more and more updated works and information thanks to a careful work of archiving and data collection that continues today.

Nell’ottica di conservare e valorizzare il patrimonio artistico di Lucio Fontana, la Fondazione collabora attivamente all’organizzazione di mostre all’interno di importanti istituzioni pubbliche o private, in Italia e all’estero.

In order to preserve and enhance the artistic heritage of Lucio Fontana, the Foundation actively collaborates in the organization of exhibitions within important public or private institutions, in Italy and abroad.

Among the most significant ones in Fontana’s exhibition history, the great anthology at Palazzo Reale in Milan (1972), the traveling solo show in Japan (1985-1986), the exhibition at the Center Pompidou in Paris (1987-1988), the five exhibitions for the centenary organized in Milan (1999) and the solo show at the Guggenheim in New York and Venice (2006-2007).

In over forty years of work, first as an “Archive” and then as a “Foundation”, the commitment to preserve Fontana’s work has always been constant, which is why an internal Artistic Commission has been set up for recognition and registration. of the autograph works.

The Foundation provides collectors with a free service for checking Lucio Fontana’s works already recognized as authentic and present in the archive.

If not present in the Archive, the Foundation offers the Authentication service of the works. After sending high-resolution photographs, information and documents necessary for the request for expertise, we proceed with the physical examination of the work by the Artistic Commission chaired by Prof. Massimo Barbero which meets 3 times a year at the Corso headquarters. Monforte 23 in Milan.

At the end of the investigation, only the works deemed by the hand of Lucio Fontana by the Artistic Commission and by Prof. Luca Massimo Barbero will be included in the Archive with a unanimous opinion, without ever carrying out economic evaluations of the works.

The work of the Foundation continues today under the presidency Paolo Laurini with multiple activities in the field of exhibitions, publications, as well as making available to interested scholars materials stored in the archives, such as letters, notes and historical photographs of the artist.

For an Artist, it is never too early to start their own digital artist archive, Art Rights is the platform that allows you to manage and certify works of art using Blockchain technology.

    5 Great Crypto Art Collectors

    5 Great Crypto Art Collectors

Let’s discover together the major NFT collectors

Before the NFT phenomenon became a real gold rush, the Crypto environment was already quite established so much so that, according to a report by NonFungible and Atelier BNP Paribas, in 2020 it had about 75,000 buyers.

Over the past year, many collectors have joined the Crypto Art universe and several of them have purchased works that are currently worth millions of dollars .

    Who are the NFT collectors?

Here are 5 profiles of great NFT collectors to be discovered:

    Eric Young

Young buys his first Bitcoin in 2015 and becomes interested in NFTs after seeing an animation inspired by the work of Guernica , called Picasso’s Bull by digital artist Trevor Jones .

From that moment begins its search for talented artists, up to the purchase of 350 NFT , an investment of about $ 1 million, won in April 2021 and then to a work of art by Pak by $ 1.4 million during the auction organized by Sotheby’s in collaboration with the Nifty Gateway marketplace .

    WhaleShark

The well-known British collector based in Hong Kong started investing in Bitcoin as early as 2012, to switch to Ether in 2015 . His first approach to the world of Crypto Art dates back to 2019, when he started creating his collection, coming to own around 210,000 NFTs.

WhaleShark is the creator of $ Whale Vault, the digital archive that contains certified NFT video clips of the NBA’s Top Shots . According to a collector’s estimate, the entire collection is now worth up to $ 53 million.

“I think the main reason NFTs started exploding is that people started realizing it’s just a natural evolution,” says WhaleShark, “Our life is slowly moving from physical to digital. When you look at the new generations, they are very used to considering digital collectibles as a store of value. “

    Justin Sun

Justin Sun is a longtime young cryptocurrency investor , founder of the cryptocurrency platform Tron . His name appeared in all magazines following the fierce challenge to buy the work Everydays: the first 5000 days by the digital artist Beeple at Christie’s auction house , which ended with his defeat for just 20 seconds.

Contacted by the staff of Christie’s , the Sun collector has decided to buy instead of two pieces of physical art 100%: the painting Femme nue couchée au collier (Marie-Thérese) of Picasso for 20 million dollars and Three Self Portraits of Andy Warhol for $ 2 million .

The reason? Through his JUST NFT Fund he wants to register the main works of art by great artists on the blockchain.

    Pablo Rodriguez-Fraile

His history as an NFT collector begins in 2017, but it is since last year that Rodriguez has decided to buy works of Crypto Art. His collection contains about 2,000 NFTs , some of which can be viewed in the profile on the Nifty Gateway platform .

The core of his heritage consists of about 400 pieces by the best Crypto Artists such as Beeple, and a further section of 70 pieces defined by him as “the Pak collection ”.

    Metakovan

Metakovan is the pseudonym of Vignesh Sundaresan , the famous collector who bought  Everydays: the first 5000 days of Beeple .

Entrepreneur, programmer and CEO of BitAccess , a company specializing in blockchain and Portkey Technologies Pte Ltd , a software technology provider, has founded numerous Crypto projects, such as Ethereum and Decentraland .

The reason that prompted Metakovan to purchase Beeple’s work?

“Prove to Indians and people of color that they too can be patrons of the arts.”

Are you ready to become a collector of NFT works too?

    SEO for Art

    SEO FOR ART

How to use SEO to be found online by collectors, potential customers or visitors

SEO, or search engine optimization, is a term that indicates a series of techniques that aim to make a website suitable for searches, especially on Google.

In fact, Google, through its algorithm , scans the entire world of the web, filtering suitable contents and eliminating those that do not respect certain rules , showing the results to the user who enters keywords.

For artists, gallery owners, professionals and institutions, implementing an SEO strategy means directing users to their website , which is indexed, or which appears in Google searches.

It is not enough to produce quality content such as high-resolution images, articles for the blog, etc. if these do not comply with Google’s rules: the result will not be up to the economic and content production commitment, which read and viewed.

Let’s see what are the fundamental steps for a successful SEO strategy in the art world:

    1. CHOOSE YOUR KEYWORDS: first of all, as with any marketing tool, you need to be clear about the behavior of your potential audience . In this case it means using some online software such as Google Keyword Planner, KWPlanner , or Keyword Tool , which allow you to have an overview of the keywords searched in a certain period, complete with user demographic statistics But be careful : choose generic keywords such as “art”, “paintings”, “museum” etc that have large volumes of research, it means, more often than not, having too much competition : as much as we can try, competitors will always be first of us in Google searches. Instead, it is better to use more specific keywords for our business, but with a good search volume. An example could be the “contemporary art museum in Bergamo” , or “ abstract oil paintings on canvas” or, for the galleries, the names of the artists represented or protagonists of the next exhibition.
    2. WHERE TO INSERT THE KEYWORDS : based on the keywords chosen, all the content on the site is structured , from marketing texts to blog articles, to get to the images. The latter in fact have attributes called “alt” which are very important for the search of the images: it is always better to change the name of the file with a specific title such as “Title of the painting, oil on canvas, 40 × 50” , or the title of an exhibition represented or the service offered as an “art advisor ” etc. For blog articles, on the other hand, pay attention to the tags that must be consistent with the keywords.
    3. SNIPPET PREVIEWS: this term refers to the individual “cards” that appear on Google after a search. Snippet Previews consist of an “SEO Title” , a permalink and a “meta description”, which must respect a certain number of words, but also be clear and effective. An example of a title would be “ Name Surname | Abstract Painter | Buy Online ” or “ Gallery Name | City Name | Abstract Paintings “
    4. THE LINK BUILDING: literally, the “construction of connections” means making the site appear in other authoritative sites or blogs. The Link Building can be through interviews, marketplace as Artsy for artists, event sites for museums and galleries . This practice not only increases traffic, but also favors indexing on Google.
    5. THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA: even the social media such as Facebook , LinkedIn , Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube are very important as they appear on Google search pages. It is therefore essential to create an SEO strategy that also integrates the keywords in the social editorial plan or a possible production of video content.
    6. FOCUS ON THE STRUCTURE OF THE SITE: the structure of the website must be ordered, conceived as a tree architecture that starts from the home page and is divided into successive levels, up to the individual pages. This favors not only the navigability by the user, but also the reading of the contents and the “ sitemap ” by Google.

Taking into account SEO in the construction of a website or in the production of content, means meeting the searches of users, in particular of an audience potentially interested in art.

And you, are you ready to optimize your website SEO for art ?

    The marketplaces for art

    The marketplaces for art

Are marketplaces valid tools to enhance your digital strategy?

Buying online is now a way to access goods or services quickly and easily.

The trends that, in the last year, have seen a strong increase in online sales of works of art also say so: the data of the latest Art Market Report 2021 underlines a trading volume of $ 12.4 billion, thus representing 25% of global sales amounted to $ 50.1 billion.

Without forgetting the disruptive entry of NFT sales on platforms such as SuperRare, Nifty Gateway or OpenSea, protagonists of the most surprising sales in agreement with auction houses such as Christie’s, Sotheby’s or Phillips.

Today, more and more artists and galleries feel the need to access a virtual place where purchases are made which, for the world of art, are mainly of interest to works rather than services.

These spaces are marketplaces, which can generally be vertical (a single type of product) or horizontal (therefore different products and services): the first type prevails in the world of art.

But let’s take a step back: what is a marketplace?

A marketplace is a trading platform where artists and galleries can propose the purchase of works to collectors from all over the world. Each user has his own specific indexed catalog and manages orders independently, as well as returns, transactions and the documentation necessary to sell the work.

For galleries, the most famous marketplace is certainly Artsy, a platform that claims to have five-figure sales of up to 100,000 dollars.

For artists, on the other hand, Saatchi Art is the leading online art gallery (over 110,000 artists present) that is redefining the experience of buying and selling art for artists and buyers.

For crypto artists SuperRare and Nifty Gateway are the marketplaces of the moment without a doubt.

How do you access a marketplace?

What distinguishes these platforms is the affiliation system which has specific characteristics established by the platform, through subscription plans, affiliate programs and commission percentages on sales.

For one thing, marketplaces generate huge user traffic, so there is a better chance of selling works through this channel.

Secondly, they have gained a certain reliability over time, both in terms of the shipping mechanism, and in terms of the simplicity and safety of purchase (a significant aspect considering the value of the works of art).

Other advantages that can be obtained from the art marketplaces are the increase in visibility and the growth of networking. Joining a marketplace means being part of a community capable of creating connections with international collectors.

Furthermore, depending on the platforms, it is possible to take advantage of collateral services to support one’s business such as consultancy and training (through for example webinars) for the definition and strengthening of digital strategies.

Are they therefore suitable platforms to increase your sales? Perhaps, but only if used according to objectives and within a precise strategy.

An important warning: selling on marketplaces is not improvised, it requires skills, tools, and tactics to be implemented in the short, medium and long term.

It therefore becomes essential to acquire specific skills or to make use of a professional digital strategist who will work by your side to help you outline the best strategy in national and international markets and increase your online visibility.

Paris Hilton and the NFT trend

Paris Hilton and the NFT trend

The heiress sells on Nifty Gateway for $ 1.1 million

In her bio on Nifty Gateway she defines herself as “an icon in every business she has pursued, from being an influencer to a highly successful DJ and an innovative business woman. She is focused on women’s empowerment and on supporting others, she shines in every community she belongs to. “

She is Paris Hilton, the most famous heiress in the world, the latest among the celebrities of the international star-system to join the world of Crypto Art, launching and selling her own collection of NFT works.

Hilton seems very involved in this project, so much so that she declares “I’m obsessed. I don’t think about anything else. I’ve never been so excited about something in my life, because I really see it as the future. I’m so obsessed with it that I actually dream about it every single night. “

A mania that, however, seems anything but a marketing gimmick to make people talk about themselves. In fact, if someone, by a strange chance, did not know the American blonde and found himself scrolling through her Twitter profile, he would conclude that he is not facing a gossip star, but a great lover of the Crypto Art market.

The socialite, in fact, usually tweets with the likes of Pak and FEWOCiOUS; she is a friend of the collector Whale Shark (her mentor of her in the NFT world) or of the digital artist CryptoYuna, very famous for organizing the first all-female NFT exhibition and for having even named her honorary “Graffiti Queen” in recognition of her support to NFT artists.

Paris is also a frequent visitor to the rooms on Clubhouse – the social media of the voice – dedicated to the crypto world and daily explores galleries and digital exhibitions.

So it was natural for her to decide to release a drop of 3 NFT works, for which she collaborated with Blake Kathryn, another acclaimed crypto artist. Two of these works “Hummingbird in my metaverse” and “Legendary love” featured 11 limited editions worth $ 10,000 thus bringing the sale to a total of $ 220,000. The third instead, a portrait of Hilton herself in the guise of the glossy android “Iconic Crypto Queen”, is a unique piece purchased by a mysterious user named mondoir for $ 1,111,211.

Yet what’s more interesting this time around aren’t the numbers: Hilton seems to rather want to bring NFTs to the general public – and it has the power to do so, or at least try to do so. “I see myself as a public figure with a great platform that can drive this technology into the mainstream,” she says. “And I do it to help people, especially creators, to elevate voices, especially female ones, and ultimately change the world for the better.”

Because, as he claims and states in a recent post on his site, NFTs are democratizing art, changing the fashion industry, making the metaverse possible and allowing artists to directly engage fans.

Memo Akten: the environmentally conscious digital artist

Memo Akten: the environmentally conscious digital artist

Memo Akten is the artist who studied the environmental impact of the NFT market

In recent months, the universe of Crypto Art has not stopped being talked about. However, the record sale of Beeple’s work by Christie’s has done nothing but put the spotlight on a world that has been in constant expansion for years, that of NFT.

But not all that glitters is gold. The creation of crypto works has a strong environmental impact, since this system, based on fossil fuels, involves a high consumption of energy and consequent CO2 emissions.

In this regard, one artist in particular conducted in-depth research published on Medium. He is Memo Akten, a Turkish engineer and computer scientist who has long been working and experimenting with technologies capable of creating images, sounds and installations, with the aim of reaching the heart of human nature.

In 2013 the artist won the Golden Nica award in the Prix Ars Electronica category with his work “Forms”, created in collaboration with the visual artist Quayola, which presents a collection of studies on human movement and reverberations in space and time.

Fascinated by Artificial Intelligence and the man-machine relationship, in 2017 he gave life to his “Learning to See” project, a series of works that make use of Machine Learning algorithms, capable of creating works similar to those he could create a human being by observing what surrounds him.

More recently he created the “Meditations” series, a long-lasting video and sound installation that invites the viewer to a spiritual journey through the observation of slow images and sounds, narrated through the imagination of a deep artificial neural network.

Memo Akten has also collaborated with celebrities such as Lenny Kravitz, U2, Depeche Mode and Professor Richard Dawkins.
