Free Comb with Pagoda, drawing on paper by Jean-Michel Basquiat offered for sale as an NFT on the OpenSea marketplace, was withdrawn from the auction due to the absence of the license and rights to the work by the seller. The enterprising David Datuna, the artist who ate Maurizio Cattelan’s $ 120,000 banana at Art Basel in 2019, is back to being talked about. Stealing NFTs? According to the mysterious “Banksy of NFT” it is possible

Stealing NFTs? According to the mysterious “Banksy of NFT” it is possible

He is called the “Banksy of NFTs” and his goal is to disprove the non-reproducibility of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) by collapsing the foundations on which the new crypto art market is built

Under the pseudonym Monsieur Personne (“Mr. Nobody”), the artist tried to dampen the hype around Crypto Mania by raising thorny questions about NFT encoding, possible copyright violations, and the resulting damage to artists and collectors.

With the “NFThief” project, Personne would find a way to reproduce the NFTs produced by crypto artists, acquiring ownership of them.

This process is called “Sleep minting” and consists of a crypto counterfeiting operation that allows NFTs in artists’ wallets to be minted and their authorship to be transferred without them noticing.

    How is this possible?

This would happen, again according to the “Banksy of NFTs,” due to a structural flaw in SMART CONTRACTs, which would cause transactions to appear legitimate on the Blockchain, exactly as if the artist had made them, but unknowingly.

“An artist can be forced to unconsciously assert authorship on the Ethereum Blockchain just as a sleepwalking disorder can force someone to dance out of their bedroom while in a deep sleep” – Personne argues.

To prove his point, on April 4 Personne created an alleged “second edition” of Beeple’s work “Everydays: The First 5,000 Days” sold for $69.3 million at Christie’s and purchased by collector Metakovan pseudonym Vignesh Sundaresan.

Personne later claimed to have given the counterfeit NFT (identified as Token ID 40914) to a user with the nickname Arsenio Lupin who in turn offered it for sale on Rarible and Opensea, two of the largest NFT marketplaces, which then blocked the transaction.

Monsieur Personne doesn’t want to sabotage the NFT market and question the potential of blockchain technology: his intent is to shed light on alleged technological flaws to show how they can be fixed. Personne believes from his perspective that the main security and vulnerability issues of smart contracts have been ignored to make way for the crypto gold rush.

We recall that NFTs are at the basis of the development of a new digital economy based on Blockchain and the so-called SMART CONTRACTs, i.e. digital “smart contracts”, through which the work is digitally signed by the artist, offering collectors the guarantee of its authenticity and origin.

Being aware of the critical issues that the crypto & NFT system, which is still poorly regulated and standardized, can present is critical during this initial frenzy.

On the other hand, even without Personne’s intervention, market participants would still have found out through channels other than the Blockchain if Beeple had actually coined a second edition of “Everydays.”

However, if malicious parties with advanced knowledge of the technologies presumably begin to exploit the vulnerabilities found by Personne in the ERC721 contracts, the NFT market could fall into a forgery crisis, just as is happening in the physical art market – for which there has been no shortage of research over the years showing that up to 50% of the art that comes to market is fake or misattributed

Incidentally, Personne himself claims that 80% of the NFTs on the market are invalid and must be recreated because of their vulnerability to sleep minting.

It is a difficult estimate to confirm: however, the financial risks that the entire NFT system – and not only the art system – would face are so high that the major players have to clarify and resolve all the issues to protect artists, collectors and professionals.

And you, are you ready to discover the Banksy of NFT?

Digital is changing the management of art collections

Digital is changing the management of art collections

What are the advantages for collectors of starting to manage their art collection with the support of new technologies?

Here are the 4 main advantages

Collecting works of art is a disruptive passion, in constant growth and evolution, which has not subsided even in a pandemic era. But with the advent of digital in support of art, the management of works and collections is also updated, especially for the more attentive collecting and in particular that of Millennials, which is increasingly gaining ground in the system and in the market and is at the search for immediacy, safety and innovation for the management of their collections.

Let’s find out what are the main advantages that digital offers for the management, protection and enhancement of your collection!

    1.Ease of entering information

Accessibility and ease of use is the main element that determines the success of a management software for art. The new digital platforms are designed with the aim of offering collectors greater ease of use. No more complex and antiquated systems, then. You can access your collection at any time – via PC, tablet and smartphone. As with Art Rights, where thanks to the ART MANAGER service it is possible to enter all the information on the works in a simple and immediate way for over 200 fields of compilation ranging from the main information on the work, to the Condition Report up to the Economic Information or on the specifications of transport and handling. This allows you to have at your fingertips all the fundamental information relating to the works, without the risk of data loss or any limitations.

2.Information at your fingertips and quick contact with professionals

The digital and orderly management of information on the works allows you to make contact with specific services quicker and faster, such as consulting industry experts and sharing the documentation necessary for the sale or loan of the works, all with a simple click. Thanks to the ART CONCIERGE service offered on Art Rights, getting in touch with the best professionals in art services has never been easier: by selecting one or more works from the Art Manager, you can contact the professional for advice or requests for a quote by sharing the Work of Art Passport created on the platform securely and in total privacy.

    3.Digital archiving

Physical archives are no longer enough to preserve one’s works. It is known that the material dimension of the work is in constant danger, due to possible fires, floods, humidity and environments with altered temperatures. More and more collectors are approaching the technological systems for managing works to digitize them and thus make them safe from damage. For this reason, the Art Rights platform allows, through the Passport of the work, to record all the information on individual objects for quick sharing of the technical specifications with the insurance company in the event of a claim.

4.Security protocol for the exchange of information

One of the major concerns of collectors concerns the security of the data of the works placed on a digital platform. New technologies at the service of art are able to drastically reduce the risk of data loss or theft, thanks to rigid security protocols such as Blockchain technology, in favor of solving problems concerning provenance, price manipulation and lack of transparency of information on works of art.

Art Rights, thanks to an innovative legal system compliant with the Copyright Law with Verified Users and certain date with Blockchain technology, becomes a secure standard for the exchange of information.

And you, are you ready to innovate the management of your art collection?

New Beeple drop coming to Nifty Gateway: another millionaire record awaits us?

New Beeple drop coming to Nifty Gateway: another millionaire record awaits us?

On April 30, the most famous Crypto Artist of the moment is ready to release a new series of NFTs: here are all the details on Beeple’s works for the Spring / Summer 2021 collection

Beeple is finally ready to return to the NFT market scene! The $ 69 million artist has announced his comeback in style with the new “BEEPLE: SPRING / SUMMER COLLECTION 2021 蜂 鸟: 2021 年 春夏 系列” exclusively for Nifty Gateway with auction open from April 30 to May 2.

With a message on his website he welcomes all his collectors and fans: “I don’t stop until I’m in MoMA …. then I don’t stop until I’m kicked out of MoMA, lol”.

    DETAILS ABOUT THE WORKS

The works included in this new release are a total of 11 available in multiple editions, some of which even in 100 copies. Among them are “Rebirth”, “Gigachad”, “Biological Collectible”, “Abundace” and “January 1ST, 2021” which could reserve some surprises for collectors and buyers wishing to own a work by the artist: simply paying $ 1 to enter the auction, 100 lucky buyers will be drawn by the same artist and will be able to receive a copy of one of the NFTs as a gift!

In a single edition, however, Beeple has reserved the works “30K”, “HEY”, “DICK MILKING FACTORY” and “BLOODY MONKEY”

A DESCRIPTION CARD FOR EACH WORK

On the Beeple website it is possible to see which works are part of the Spring / Summer Collection 2021, where for each NFT there is a description sheet including technical details.

For the work entitled “30K”, the Crypto Artist presents the number of day # 4995 corresponding to the famous series “Everydays: the first 5000 days” sold at auction by Christie’s and the date of realization: 1 February 2021.

Below is an image of the work in high resolution, where in the center of the scene there are two bulls immortalized in the act of mating and the golden symbol of a shining Bitcoin. A note from Beeple describes the image in a few lines: “The halving ceremony is the most unusual part of modern bitcoin production in which owners bet on the efficiency with which an alpha bull can seed the market”.

There are also technical indications such as: Token ID, Label, Date of Creation, Date of minting of the token, the Collection to which it belongs and the edition number.

Beeple also provides further technical specifications, just as if it were an in-depth study on the “materials” of the work, then the software used for the realization are indicated such as Cinema 4D, Octane Render and Photoshop, again the original resolution corresponding to 2400 x 3000 and the dimensions of the file 8,491,246 bytes.

For those who really cannot afford the purchase, Mike Winkelmann offers to download the wallpaper image of the work from the perspective of accessibility to his works.

    NFTs THAT BECOME PHYSIC

The sale will be special, because for the lucky ones who manage to win a lot, they will receive the physical copy inside a special frame made specifically for the works, which allows not only to show them outside the digital screen of a smartphone, tablet. or pc, but also in this new way that pleases most.

Beyond the prize lot, it is however likely to assume that all the works of this collection will be sold with a very high final price. Precisely for this reason Nifty Gateway has asked for a sort of “deposit” for those who intend to raise more than $ 20,000 to obtain special access to the works.

We just have to wait to see what will happen, it is certain that at this moment Beeple’s NFT works are among the most desired!

The giant Binance launches a new NFT marketplace

The giant Binance launches a new NFT marketplace

The platform dedicated to crypto collectibles will be inaugurated in June 2021

A new platform for the sale of Crypto Art and Collectible NFT has been born: the giant Binance intends to become the largest NFT marketplace in the world.

There are numerous platforms that every day offer the opportunity to become part of the NFT (Non Fungible Token) universe as creators or collectors and Binance, the main cryptocurrency exchange in the world and its CEO Changpeng Zhao certainly has not remained watching.

Yesterday, April 27, the giant announced the creation of a new marketplace where users will be able to create, buy and sell digital collectibles in NFT.

The platform will be inaugurated in June 2021, but the anti press release already anticipates the goal: to become the primary reference point of the Crypto Art and Collectibles market, thanks to a high variety and quantity of NFTs offered, low fees and liquid assets.

Binance spokespersons said the platform will operate in two markets: a premium venue for the best auctions and exhibitions, and a standard trading market that anyone can use to create new tokens. For the first type of segment, the platform will retain 10% of the auction value, while the remaining 90% will end up in the pockets of the creators. Daily traders, on the other hand, will be required to pay a fee equal to 1%, the value of the royalty that will be recognized to the creators of the work.

Project leader Helen Hai further adds: “Our goal is to offer the largest NFT trading platform in the world with the best creating, buying and trading experience, leveraging the fastest and cheapest solutions powered by the community and Binance blockchain infrastructure “.

Nominations for artists are open. In fact, Crypto artists can start sending proposals to join the circuit of the new digital platform dedicated to NFTs, while those who already have an account on Binance.com can use it to access the marketplace, using their balance for purchases.

A real challenge to already consolidated marketplaces and among the most used such as Nifty Gateway or OpenSea, which have implemented marketing strategies for the sale of NFTs involving big names of artists such as Grimes, Pop Star and Rapper of music such as Eminem or even stars and influencers like Paris Hilton.

Binance has seen a significant increase in cryptocurrency exchanges, also benefiting above all thanks to the sale of NFTs.

The revolution that Blockchain technology is bringing to the art system and market is now a fact. More and more artists, collectors and experts in the sector want to use it, sensing its potential.

And you, are you ready to sell and buy your NFT works?

4 tips to start documenting your art

4 tips to start documenting your art

Documenting one’s art is essential for an artist who wants to be recognized as a professional in the art system and marketplace.

For an artist who wants to build his artistic career on solid foundations, it is essential to create his own Archive that contains all the information about the history and origin of the works, as well as documentation such as the Certificate of Authenticity, the Condition Report or Publications of the individual works.

If you haven’t documented your Art yet, now is the time!

Here are 4 tips to get you started effectively!

Take high quality photographs of your artwork

When it comes to archiving, photographs as well as videos are essential. You don’t have to be a photographer or have a professional camera to take high-quality photos. Start by taking a high-resolution photograph of your artwork in its entirety, front and back, not forgetting details such as signature, surface texture or distinctive elements that are critical to you. Pay attention to lighting, display, and editing your photos to avoid manipulated reprodutions.

Write your own story with an artist biography.

Learn how to write an up-to-date, creative biography that you can include not only in your Archive but also in your Portfolio to present to galleries or art awards to promote your Art. Biographies are concise, accurate and detailed because they need to cover the history of your art career and communicate your journey.

Explain your work with the Statement

In addition to entering data, images and documents, remember to describe your artistic research and your works through brief explanations that highlight the physical characteristics of the work, the message it wants to communicate, the idea from which it was generated, the series of which it is part. Don’t forget to collect all the Publications that see your work as a protagonist in exhibitions, fairs, events or awards, without forgetting the catalogs.

Create an Archive in one place digital space

One of the reasons why reconstructing the history of your artwork is so difficult is the impossibility of finding all the information in one place. That’s why it’s important to have a single reference platform that allows you to store information about your Art in a complete and updated way, so you can get in touch more easily with professionals and collectors.

Art Rights is the platform for the management and certification of works of art that offers the artist the ability to create their own Digital Archive complete and always updated where you can enter information about their works, manage them, protect them with the certification in Blockchain and enhance them with the Art Manager of Art Rights.

And you, are you ready to document your Art?

Start certifying, managing and enhancing your art with Art Rights now!

    Bright Festival 2021

    BRIGHT FESTIVAL 2021

The all-Italian festival that promotes digital creativity and takes stock of new generations of art professionals, with an eye on Digital Art, Crypto and NFT.

In such uncertain times, creativity seems to be the way to reflect on the world to come.

The world of Art and Culture is made up of millions of operators who are approaching and trying to adapt to the digital change still underway; but the new generations?

Professional disorientation and fears about one’s future are growing, which is why young people and students enter the working world, often without knowing the emerging professions – especially those related to digital – or without being able to pick up the signals of a constantly changing world of work.

Based on this reflection and on the difficult period we are facing, Bright Festival, a cultural event that promotes and enhances digital creativity through training and entertainment activities on issues related to digital art, lighting design and electronic music has promoted on the Bright Educational platform its first Online Edition with the theme “Bright Workers: professions of the future”.

Three days of online panels including lectures, webinars, talks and meetings inviting representatives of some of the most established companies in the digital creative sector to express themselves on the most current issues of digital transformation.

On April 23, 2021, the panel “Digital Art, Crypto and NFT: a new world to discover” was held in collaboration with Art Rights, where Andrea Concas – Art Tech Entrepreneur, CEO and Founder of Art Rights – moderated the dialogue with Joey Camacho – Co-Founder of AvantForm and Crypto Artist known as “Raw & Rendered” – and Kyle Szostek – 3D Artist and Animator known as “Simulation Lab” – both international representatives of the Crypto Art and NFT sector.

Together they talked to discover the new scenarios and opportunities that are changing the world of digital creativity, with stimulating economic and artistic implications, starting from the date that has now become a symbol of Crypto Mania: 11 March 2021 when the work “EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS” by artist Beeple is auctioned by Christie’s for over $ 69 million.

There followed a series of collaborations between the great artists of the “traditional” world of art with the large NFT sales platforms: Damien Hirst with PALM, Takashi Murakami and OPEN SEA, Urs Fischer and MakerPlace.

From that moment everything has changed and is still in progress: what will be the implications of this change for the art system and market as we know it?

The multifaceted art dealer Simon de Pury, fascinated by the growing NFT phenomenon, has decided to study the dynamics of Crypto Art. The result? The market has all the credentials to establish itself. The frenzy of the art world of recent months reminded him of the “Swatch fever” of the mid-1980s, when the plastic watch invented by Nicolas Hayek saved the Swiss watch industry and for a while it became an international currency. in its own right. An event destined to revolutionize the world of art, therefore.

    2) Italian artist Federico Clapis sells an NFT for $ 70,000

Intercepted in Spain three fake paintings attributed to El Greco, Goya and Modigliani

Intercepted in Spain three fake paintings attributed to El Greco, Goya and Modigliani

About to be sold abroad for €12.5 million

Spanish police have seized three fake paintings attributed to artists El Greco, Francisco Goya and Amedeo Modigliani

The counterfeit canvases were owned by a collector from the province of Toledo who intended to sell them as originals for the exorbitant sum of €12.5 million.

The seller, whose identity has not been revealed, allegedly had contacts with numerous dealers to sell the works in Switzerland, Mexico and Germany in exchange for a 10% commission. Potential buyers would have already been ready to buy.

The Modigliani forgery, a half-length female portrait, was the most expensive of the group with a sale price of €8.5 million. The painting had the artist’s forged signature on the back and was accompanied by bogus documents of authenticity. The Valencian Institute of Conservation contributed to the investigation by declaring that the work in question was a forgery.

On the other hand, the works by El Greco and Goya, one valued at €2.5 million and the other at €1.5 million respectively, were declared inauthentic thanks to the intervention of experts from the Prado Museum and the Sephardic Museum of Toledo.

All three paintings were seized by the police while the results of the investigation, including the museums’ technical reports, were shared by the Spanish court.

The resale of fakes is a persistent problem in the art market that worries not only the police,” said Antonio López the head of the Historical Heritage Group, “but also collectors, art dealers and artists’ heir families who are seeing the illegal circuits of commerce increase more and more.”

The problem of fakes affects not only Collectors, but above all it damages the market of the counterfeit Artist and consequently the professionals involved.

The Fine Art Expert Institute of Geneva has estimated that more than half of the works examined at their laboratories are either fakes or misattributed. This is why it is becoming increasingly important to conduct careful Due Diligence and Provenance on works that are being bought or sold.

The platform Art Rights works to support the management of the works of Artists, Collectors, and Art Professionals, offering the possibility to create a Digital Archive of the works, which contains all information, documents and steps in a simple way and in total security and privacy.

Thanks to Blockchain technology and a sophisticated system of Validation by third party users Art Rights offers the possibility to create Art Rights Certificates, real Passports of the artwork and create a Value Chain to protect the quality and authenticity of the artwork.
